We\’re recruiting on behalf of Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to recruit Band 5/6 Biomedical Scientists across multiple vacancies.
This is a great opportunity to join the trust, where you will work alongisde the Clinical Lead, BMS Service Manager and Laboratory team to ensure the provision of a high quality, cost effective and efficient laboratory service in Cellular Pathology which will meet the standards of UKAS accreditation. The Cellular Pathology service provides Histopathology, Diagnostic Cytology, Andrology and mortuary services in the BHSCT.
The role:

Conduct core laboratory duties in line with the training and responsibilities of a Registered Biomedical Scientist, with placement possible in any area of the Department.

Perform procedures requiring independent judgement and initiative, with minimal supervision, while adhering to safety policies and regulations.

Supervise trainees and support staff within Belfast Trust Laboratories and contribute to research and development of new techniques.

Follow and complete the HCPC-approved training programme leading to state registration, and maintain progress in both academic and in-service training.

Participate in a 24-hour laboratory service, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as part of a 37.5-hour working week.

Engage in Continuous Professional Development through personal development plans, annual staff reviews, and relevant training courses.

Uphold the Trust\’s values by maintaining professionalism, promoting teamwork, complying with relevant policies, and ensuring public confidence in the service.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
- HCPC registered as a biomedical scientist.
- Post qualification experience in cellular pathology.
- Awareness of the role and function of a Pathology Laboratory in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
