Are you an experienced Biomedical Scientist looking to take the next step in your career? This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and well-established laboratory service where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that directly support patient care. Working within a collaborative team, you'll contribute to maintaining accredited laboratory standards while developing your technical expertise across specialist disciplines.

The Role:

  • Performing routine and specialist laboratory investigations within Haematology, Blood Transfusion and related disciplines
  • Ensuring the accurate processing, analysis and reporting of laboratory specimens
  • Supporting the maintenance of UKAS accreditation through compliance with quality standards and departmental procedures
  • Contributing to quality assurance programmes, audit activities and the continuous improvement of laboratory services
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to support patient care
  • Participating in a 24-hour laboratory service, including out-of-hours and lone working when required
  • Supporting ongoing service development while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and clinical governance

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline with at least one year's post-registration experience, or equivalent Band 6 experience
  • Strong knowledge of Haematology, Blood Transfusion or Clinical Chemistry laboratory practices
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport (or an approved alternative where applicable)
  • Willingness to participate in a 24-hour laboratory service and travel between sites as required

Location: Derry

Salary: £38,682 - £46,580

Contract: Full-time temporary assignment
