MCS Group is exclusively working with a leading software and services provider within the Financial and Regulatory space who is looking to hire a Senior Data Consultant to join its growing Client Delivery team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex client problems, working with data, and delivering high quality solutions in a fast paced, client facing environment. The business partners with large multinational organisations and is continuing to scale through innovative technology and strong customer relationships.
You'll play a key role in improving the quality, predictability and sustainability of client deliveries, while helping drive best practice across the wider team.
The Role
- You'll work across multiple client projects at any one time, supporting customers from initial discovery through to delivery and ongoing optimisation.
- This role will suit someone who is confident working directly with clients, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, and able to translate complex data challenges into practical solutions.
- Delivering analytics and reporting solutions using SQL and Power BI.
- Running discovery sessions with clients to understand requirements and business structures.
- Analysing complex or unclear datasets to identify the correct underlying data model.
- Defining entities, hierarchies and relationships before build activity begins.
- Importing, interrogating and transforming data from multiple client sources.
- Setting up workflows and supporting solution builds using SQL.
- Working closely with Project Managers across multiple live projects.
- Supporting delivery planning, estimation and scope discussions.
- Challenging unclear requirements or change requests where needed.
- Acting as a senior escalation point for complex delivery or post-delivery issues.
- Supporting demos, testing and occasional pre-sales activity.
- Sharing best practice across data modelling and delivery processes.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience delivering analytics or BI solutions using SQL and Power BI.
- Previous experience in a client facing consulting, implementation or B2B delivery environment.
- Strong understanding of data modelling fundamentals including: entities and relationships, hierarchies, dimensional concepts.
- Experience working with ambiguous or poorly structured client data.
- Ability to ask the right discovery questions and challenge assumptions constructively.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A pragmatic, solutions focused approach to delivery.
