MCS is partnering with the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust to recruit a dedicated, detail-oriented professional to join their Adult Services directorate as a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician. Based initially within Maghaberry Prison, this is a vital role supporting healthcare delivery in a secure environment. This isn't a role for someone who wants a standard retail pharmacy routine. This is for an adaptable pharmacy professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: BTEC and NVQ3 in Pharmacy Services (or an equivalent recognised qualification).
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Student Pharmacy Technician (or equivalent) for at least 14 hours per week.
- Mobility: A current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and access to a car upon appointment.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability, basic numeracy, and sound computer literacy.
- Desirable: Previous experience working within a secure environment is highly beneficial but not essential.

Your Responsibilities:
- Dispensary Services: Dispensing prescriptions using computer systems under pharmacist supervision, monitoring fridge temperatures/logs to maintain the cold chain, and ensuring the safe disposal or reuse of returned medications.
- Medicines Management: Issuing self-administration medication to patients, providing tailored medication counselling, and regularly monitoring usage to prevent misuse.
- Clinical Stock Support: Running efficient top-up services for treatment rooms, managing non-stock items, monitoring expiry dates, and processing daily requisitions.
- Multidisciplinary Liaison: Assisting nursing staff with the administration of Controlled Drugs, maintaining CD registers/cabinets, and updating computerised medical records (EMIS system) with medication concerns.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensuring the safe and secure storage of medicines in line with legislation and Trust security policies, while fostering a culture of openness and transparency.
