The role: Advising on the review, collation and consideration of the IS resources required to support the work of the Assembly, its Committees, Members and the Assembly Commission. Managing the day to day provision, maintenance and support of the Assembly Commission's technical environment (on premise and cloud), ensuring business continuity. Managing the provision of customised ICT enabled solutions. Liaising with other IS Office staff in maintaining effective computing services through the management of the delivery of ICT services, including the management of teams of Infrastructure Support Specialists and Analysts, advising and directing as required. Leading on technical evaluations and developments and providing technical advice and support across a range of technologies. Developing specifications for the procurement of ICT enabled business solutions and to assist, in the IS Office representational role, in discussions with potential contractors and suppliers within the specialism. Taking a lead role in IS Office specific procurements and supervising the work of other staff in negotiating small scale procurements, to ensure that overall best value for money is achieved. Taking a lead role in the IS Office approach to cyber security. Managing ICT projects using an appropriate project management methodology. Managing the development of technical standards; co-ordination of plans; planning and monitoring ICT security standards and procedures. Managing the provision of authoritative and expert advice on ICT Infrastructure matters to the Head of IS Office and Director of Parliamentary Services and the Secretariat Management Group in relation to the strategic provision of IT and IS facilities and services for the Assembly. Presenting ICT information to Members and Assembly Commission staff including the delivery of system demonstrations, ICT training and preparation of user documentation. Being responsible for the business analysis process with respect to the infrastructure requirements of new or enhanced ICT enabled business systems. Providing consultancy for a wide range of ICT enabled activities within the organisation, including acting as ICT expert on corporate and interparliamentary working groups. Comply with all the Assembly Commission's staff policies and procedures including Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work policies and procedures and all mandatory training requirements. Managing information and records in accordance with established policies and statutory requirements. You may also be required to carry out other duties that the Assembly Commission reasonably requires of you.
The Person: Applicants for the post of ICT Infrastructure Manager must, by the closing date for applications have: Possess at least a HND in computing or other discipline relevant to Information Systems and Information Technology, AND have at least a total of 3 years' post qualification experience with a minimum of one year's experience in the areas described below at (i) and (ii): Planning, design and management of a medium‑size ICT infrastructure (comprising more than 500 users) This area requires sound knowledge and experience of on‑premise infrastructure and cloud technologies (Microsoft technologies; local AD, M365, Dev Ops and Azure). AND Overseeing the management and provision of a Service Desk supporting technologies such as Windows desktop operating systems, MS In Tune, and M365 Office applications in a challenging, service delivery environment serving more than 500 users, running a variety of applications. OR Have at least a total of 5 years' experience with a minimum of one year's experience in the areas described below at (i) and (ii): Planning, design and management of a medium‑size ICT infrastructure (comprising more than 500 users) This area requires sound knowledge and experience of on‑premise infrastructure and cloud technologies (Microsoft technologies; local AD, M365, Dev Ops and Azure). AND Overseeing the management and provision of a Service Desk supporting technologies such as Windows desktop operating systems, MS In Tune, and M365 Office applications in a challenging, service delivery environment serving more than 500 users, running a variety of applications.
