The organisation: The Turnaround Project is a community-focused organisation committed to redefining the boundaries between the justice system and the wider community. It works to enable people who have served sentences to turn around their futures by providing hope, opportunity, and a supportive environment rooted in lived experience and co-production. Through its innovative transitional employment model, the organisation delivers real training and real jobs within its own social enterprises, helping individuals overcome barriers to employment and successfully reintegrate into society.
The role: Lead and manage enterprise operations, ensuring delivery aligns with organisational goals, strategic plans, and continuous service improvement. Provide strong leadership across social enterprises, driving quality, profitability, and excellent customer service. Develop and deliver annual operational plans, overseeing systems, contracts, and processes to ensure efficiency and compliance. Manage and develop staff, including line management, performance management, and building a resilient, high-performing team. Drive income generation by growing existing revenue streams and developing new enterprise opportunities aligned to transitional employment. Oversee financial management and reporting, working with finance colleagues, auditors, and supporting budgeting, cost control, and income strategies. Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships while ensuring effective governance, operational compliance (including Health & Safety), and supporting organisational leadership.
The Person: As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
- Essential: Relevant degree with senior leadership experience or extensive senior management experience.
- Experience leading teams and contributing to organisational decision-making.
- Proven ability to deliver strategic plans, budgets, and financial management.
- Experience managing contracts and generating income.
- Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in leadership, management, or finance.
- Experience with audits, governance, and supporting Boards.
