MCS Group is working exclusively with a new MedTech entrant to Northern Ireland in their search for a Principal Software Engineer. This will be a fully-remote, senior engineering role within a high-growth MedTech organisation. We're helping our client build a compact, high-calibre engineering team to modernise systems, ship new capabilities, and test ideas quickly. This role is perfect for a senior or principal software engineer who enjoys building, improving, and making things work in the real world. If you like the idea of doing more with less, being the first hire of a team in a brand new region, and shipping meaningful work quickly - let's chat.

What you'll do:

  • Take ideas and turn them into working, production-ready systems
  • Improve and evolve existing platforms without unnecessary rewrites
  • Build APIs, services, and (where needed) clean, usable frontends
  • Move systems toward modern, cloud-native ways of working
  • Use AI tools to speed up delivery and focus on what really matters
  • Test ideas quickly through prototypes, then scale what works

What we're looking for:

  • Strong experience building and owning software in production
  • Comfortable across backend, systems, and some frontend when needed
  • Solid understanding of modern cloud and delivery practices
  • Able to make sensible trade-offs and keep things pragmatic
  • Already using AI tools to enhance how you build software

Why you should apply:

  • Small team, real ownership, no unnecessary process in an exciting domain
  • A mix of modernisation and new build work
  • Freedom to use the latest tooling in a practical way and future-proof your career
  • Fully remote within NI
  • Focus on outcomes, not activity
