MCS Group has a 9-month temporary position available for an GMS ICT Officer in Belfast. This IT Technician will join a key public body, Information Technology Services at the Business Services Organisation, working on-site at their Belfast City Centre location. You will use your existing IT Support skill set to help ensure effective service delivery across the company's infrastructure. This IT Technician will play a vital part in delivering and supporting IT services across infrastructure, asset management, and security compliance, while contributing to continuous improvement and customer experience initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a regional public body, offering hands-on technical exposure and the chance to contribute to strategic IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responding to incidents and service requests logged via the Service Desk, offering technical solutions to complex problems across clinical systems, LAN, client/server applications, and network security.
  • Providing technical support, analysis, diagnosis, and resolution for computer hardware, communications networks, software, and peripherals.
  • Managing and maintaining the Help Desk Management System, ensuring prompt and appropriate escalation of incidents and identification of problems.
  • Maintaining operational documentation, conducting ICT audits (security, asset, quality, licensing), and keeping asset inventories up to date.
  • Undertaking site visits across Northern Ireland to carry out installations, replacements, repairs, and collections of ICT equipment.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must meet one of the following qualification/experience requirements: A university degree in a computer science related discipline or equivalent recognised ICT professional qualification PLUS 1 year's relevant experience. Relevant experience is defined as providing or supporting information and communications technology systems in a business environment (e.g., desktop support, system/application support & maintenance, network & communications, systems integration, and IT security). Additionally, applicants must have:

  • Hold a current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment - Reasonable Adjustments possible.
  • Strong technical communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve technical incidents.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, business process applications, and best practices in IT Service Management.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in providing services to customers using IT service management software.
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate.

  • Salary: Band 5 pay scale | £15.88/h | £30,966/y
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm | 37.5 Hour/Week
  • Flexible Working: Access to flexible working provisions from day one (subject to role demands).
  • Generous Time Off: 28 Days, rising to 35 after 12 Weeks
  • Duration: Initially 31/03/2027 - Conversion/extension or placement on a 12-month waiting list possible.
