An opportunity to join an experienced technology team supporting business-critical trading applications within a large, global market infrastructure environment. This role sits within a Level 2 Application Support function, focused on the implementation, monitoring, and support of electronic trading systems. It is a business-facing position, working closely with Engineering, QA, Development, and operational teams to ensure the stability and performance of core trading platforms. The successful candidate will support day-to-day operations, contribute to system improvements and automation, and follow established ITIL processes for Incident, Change, Request, and Problem Management.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for providing Level 2 support for trading applications across production and non-production environments. The role involves incident troubleshooting, system monitoring, application deployment, and documentation, working under the technical direction of senior engineers and developers. Strong communication skills are important, as you will maintain internal customer relationships and participate in meetings relating to production issues, scheduled changes, and upcoming projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor trading applications and system environments to ensure availability and performance
- Act as second-line support for incidents and requests escalated from the business
- Support application installations, upgrades, bug fixes, and enhancements in line with documented procedures
- Build and maintain trading applications with required third-party tools across staging and production environments
- Develop scripts using PowerShell, Bash, Perl, and SQL to automate installation, monitoring, and data collection
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks and troubleshooting guides
- Participate in incident calls, change discussions, and project-related meetings
- Manage changes through the full Change lifecycle, including documentation and approvals
- Manage ticket queues and contribute to Incident and Problem Management processes
- Operate in line with ITIL best practices for Change, Incident, Request, and Problem Management
Experience & Skills
Essential
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments
- Strong Unix / Linux skills (power-user level)
- SQL experience, including T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio
- Working knowledge of networking tools (e.g. SSH, SFTP, traceroute)
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Perl)
- Understanding of Change Management processes
- Experience with monitoring and observability tooling
- Strong knowledge of ITIL-based support models
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
- Experience deploying and supporting enterprise applications
Desirable
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, or TFS
- Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
- Broader database and SQL experience
