The Role
We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to help design, build, and evolve a production Android application and its supporting components. This is a hands-on senior role with real influence over architecture, technical direction, and engineering standards. You will work closely with mobile, backend, and wider engineering teams to deliver high-quality Android features while modernising the existing codebase.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production Android features using Kotlin and modern Android APIs
- Contribute to application architecture, using patterns such as MVVM and/or MVI
- Build and maintain asynchronous workflows using Kotlin Coroutines and Flows
- Support UI development and modernisation, including work with Jetpack Compose and XML
- Improve performance, stability, and reliability across a wide range of devices and OS versions
- Debug complex issues across different Android versions and OEM configurations
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional Android development experience
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin - MUST HAVE
- Experience with MVVM and/or MVI architectural patterns
- Hands-on experience building or migrating UI using Jetpack Compose and XML
- Solid understanding of the Android app lifecycle, background execution, and platform constraints
- Experience debugging and optimising apps across multiple devices and OS versions
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and making pragmatic technical decisions
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Nice to Have
- Experience in the cybersecurity space - big plus.
- Background building apps used in enterprise or regulated environments
