MCS Group is proud to be working with a global business with a strong presence in Dublin as they seek a Development Team Technical Lead to establish and guide a software development function focused on scalable data platforms. This role combines hands-on technical architecture with team leadership, ensuring robust design, development, and delivery of high-quality data solutions. You’ll define the technical direction, drive architectural decisions, and mentor a small, collaborative team of developers. A strong background in Python (including Pandas and PySpark) is essential, along with deep experience in data systems architecture, AWS, and modern development practices (Agile, CI/CD, OOP).
12 month daily rate contract opportunity with strong opportunity to extend beyond that. (Hybrid - Dublin City Centre)
The Job
- Define and implement technical strategy and architectural patterns for a new data platform.
- Lead and mentor a distributed development team.
- Design and optimise scalable data pipelines and data models.
- Ensure code quality, security, and maintainability through best practices.
- Work closely with business and engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions.
The Person
- Extensive experience leading software development teams.
- Extensive experience in software design and architecture.
- Expertise in Python with strong experience in Pandas and PySpark.
- Proven experience with AWS tools (Glue, Athena, Redshift, S3, etc.).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, Agile development, and test automation.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field; AWS Associate certifications strongly preferred.
