MCS Group is seeking candidates keen to advance their careers in the energy industry. We are recruiting a Market Operator to support the day-to-day operation of wholesale electricity markets across the island of Ireland. This is a critical operational role within a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment where accuracy, judgement, and teamwork are essential.
You will be part of a team responsible for operating and monitoring electricity market auctions, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of market data and supporting the real-time balancing of electricity supply and demand. The role offers excellent exposure to energy markets, system operations, and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
The position includes working on a trading desk rota (approximately one week every 4-6 weeks), supported by a comprehensive training and certification programme. Outside of trading desk duties, you will contribute to market analysis, system testing, process improvement, and ongoing operational excellence.
Candidate- Typically 3 years' experience in a data-focused and/or critical operational role
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet strict deadlines in a busy environment
- Intermediate-level Excel skills
- Experience using multiple systems simultaneously and the ability to quickly learn new systems
- Strong communication skills and confidence working cross-functionally
- Ability to work effectively within a team under time pressure, with a flexible approach to work
- Strong skills in MS Office and file management systems (e.g. SharePoint)
- Play a key role in the operation of large-scale electricity markets with real economic and system impact
