The Role:

  • Develop and deliver the annual communications plan for the Woodland Trust in Northern Ireland, aligned to national strategy and regional priorities.
  • Produce and distribute press releases, feature articles, and other written communications.
  • Manage media enquiries and identify and coordinate PR opportunities.
  • Contribute to promotional content across e-newsletters, magazines, and local materials.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on communications activity and impact in Northern Ireland.
  • Support delivery of events and associated PR activity, including media opportunities.
  • Build and maintain media relationships, manage the Local Media Volunteer, and support regional adaptation of national stories.

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Essential: Experience in marketing, communications, and audience engagement using appropriate channels and methods.
  • Proven experience in media relations, including print and broadcast, with a track record of securing coverage.
  • Strong digital skills, including social media management, website content, and CMS platforms.
  • Ability to tailor communications to different audiences and represent an organisation professionally and effectively.
  • Desirable: Qualified in communications (e.g., CIPR or equivalent) with a desire to grow, collaborate, adapt, and deliver strategic, impactful communications.
