MCS Group is delighted to be recruiting for a Human Resources Assistant on behalf of a leading local government organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused HR professional to join a busy Organisational Development and Human Resources team, providing high-quality administrative support across a range of HR functions.
Reporting to the HR Business Officer, the successful candidate will provide professional and confidential HR administration support, contributing to the effective delivery of HR services, systems and processes in line with organisational policies, legislation and best practice.
The RoleThe successful candidate will support a wide range of HR activities, including:
- Assisting with recruitment and selection processes, including supporting interview arrangements.
- Coordinating induction processes and maintaining relevant documentation.
- Supporting probation review processes and maintaining accurate records.
- Maintaining HR systems, employee records and filing systems in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Preparing correspondence, reports and management information.
- Providing administrative support for HR policies and procedures.
- Supporting employee lifecycle processes including changes to terms and conditions, leave arrangements and employee records.
- Assisting with learning and development activities and HR projects.
- Supporting absence management processes, occupational health administration and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Providing professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders through written, telephone and face-to-face communication.
- Five GCSEs (grades A – C) or equivalent, to include English Language and Maths/Accounts, and ability to provide personal and specific examples.
- A minimum of two years’ relevant administrative and/or business support experience, or three years’ experience if the educational qualifications are not met.
- A minimum of six months’ experience using Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge and understanding of GDPR legislation.
- A full, current driving licence (Category B) and access to vehicle or other transport that enables the duties of the post.
- The role may require flexible working, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Minimum of one year’s administrative experience gained within a Human Resources environment.
- Minimum of one year’s experience using a Human Resources software system.
