We're working with a major manufacturing business going through a significant technology transformation, and they're looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to join a large-scale ERP implementation project. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get involved in an ERP transformation from the ground up, rather than simply maintaining an existing system.

You'll play a key role in understanding how the new ERP should be structured, configured and implemented, working closely with the manufacturing operation, internal teams and external consultants.

The role

  • Helping shape the architecture and configuration of a new ERP environment, ensuring it supports the needs of a complex manufacturing business.
  • Architecting and structuring the new ERP system.
  • Defining how the system should be configured and maintained.
  • Understanding system architecture, tables, data and integrations.
  • Working closely with manufacturing teams to understand operational requirements.
  • Supporting the implementation of ERP across the wider business.
  • Working with MRP and MES systems and understanding how they integrate with ERP.
  • Supporting processes such as Procure-to-Pay.
  • Working alongside a wider project team and external implementation consultants.
  • Helping shape best-practice approaches across the new ERP environment.
  • Supporting the wider transformation from legacy systems to a modern ERP platform.

What we're looking for

  • Strong experience as a Solutions Architect / ERP Architect.
  • Proven experience working on ERP implementations.
  • Experience architecting and configuring ERP systems.
  • Strong manufacturing industry experience.
  • A genuine understanding of how a manufacturing/production floor operates.
  • Experience with MRP and MES systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as production scheduling and Bills of Materials.
  • Experience with Procure-to-Pay.
  • Ideally, experience implementing Dynamics 365, although other major ERP platforms will be considered.
  • Experience working with major ERP/application vendors.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Data experience, particularly with platforms such as Snowflake, would be a bonus.

The project

This is a major transformation programme with an 18-month project lifespan, currently in the discovery phase. You'll be joining a project team of around 50 people, with representation across IT, Finance, Procurement, Quality and Project Management, alongside external consultants. The business is investing heavily in its technology estate and moving away from legacy infrastructure. This is an opportunity to have a genuine influence on how the future ERP environment is designed and how technology supports the wider manufacturing operation.

Important

This role is fully onsite and requires someone who is genuinely comfortable working onsite as part of the project team. There may be limited flexibility in the future, but candidates should be prepared to work onsite full-time, based in County Antrim.

If you're an ERP Solutions Architect with strong manufacturing experience and want to be involved in a major transformation project from the ground up, I'd be keen to speak with you.

How to prepare for a job interview at MCS Group

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If MCS Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
