A well-established software company is looking for a Software Tester to join their testing team. The business develops and maintains software products for clients across multiple sectors, working to regular release cycles in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The team is busy and growing, and this is a hire being made to strengthen testing capacity and bring in someone who can contribute from day one.
The role is a mix of manual and automated testing. You will be maintaining and contributing to existing automated test suites as well as learning the company's products and client systems and carrying out manual testing across releases. Automation experience is essential, but the specific tool matters less than the ability to apply it. The team primarily uses Cypress and Selenium, and candidates with experience in other frameworks such as Playwright are equally welcome.
What you will be doing:
- Maintaining and updating automated test suites, keeping them current as products and releases evolve
- Designing and executing manual test cases across functional and regression testing
- Raising, detailing, and tracking defects through to resolution using Azure DevOps
- Reading specs and requirements to create test plans and test cases
- Working to tight release deadlines and managing your workload to prioritise effectively
- Learning client products and systems and developing a strong understanding of how changes impact testing across the board
What they are looking for:
- A minimum of two years of experience in a software testing role, with a combination of manual and automated testing
- Hands-on experience with an automation framework such as Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, or similar
- OCN NI Level 4 Diploma in Software Testing, ISTQB Foundation, a relevant degree, or equivalent qualification
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or a similar defect tracking and board management tool
- A willingness to learn, adapt quickly, and take ownership of work across multiple concurrent projects
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under deadline pressure
The details: Hybrid working with core hours of 10am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 10am to 3pm on Fridays. Staff manage their own flex time within those core hours. The role operates on a 37.5 hour week with flexibility built around release schedules. The interview process involves an initial interview followed by a short take-home automation task.
