Are you an experienced Echocardiographer looking to take the next step within a progressive and patient-focused cardiac diagnostics service? We're recruiting for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography to join a high-performing Echocardiography team within a modern acute healthcare setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and highly skilled professional to apply their specialist expertise, contribute to service development and play a key role in delivering high-quality cardiac diagnostics across the Trust.
The Role
- Perform and independently report adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE).
- Assist with transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) and stress echocardiography (DSE).
- Support the day-to-day management and delivery of Echocardiography services across multiple sites.
- Contribute to service improvement, workflow optimisation and departmental development initiatives.
- Work closely with Cardiologists, Physiologists, Nurses and multidisciplinary teams to support high-quality patient care.
- Assist with training, mentoring and development of junior staff and students.
- Ensure equipment maintenance, quality assurance and compliance with best practice standards.
- Support appointment management, prioritisation and achievement of diagnostic targets.
- Participate in flexible and 7-day rota working as required.
You will work both independently and collaboratively, ensuring diagnostic services are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest professional standards.
Essential Criteria
- BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent qualification.
- Current RCCP or AHCS registration.
- Full current BSE accreditation in Adult Echocardiography.
- Minimum 2 years' experience at Band 6 level within Echocardiography.
- At least 1 year's experience independently reporting TTE studies following full BSE accreditation.
- Experience using hospital IT and cardiology reporting systems.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Current ILS certification.
- Full UK driving licence or access to suitable transport.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience contributing to service improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting staff training and service development.
- Experience working across multiple acute hospital sites.
