MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation to recruit an animal welfare officer on a long term temporary contract (6 months with the view to extension). Excellent hourly rate – £15.31 ph + benefits.
The Role:

Provide confidential and comprehensive administrative support to the Animal Welfare Service and all functions within the Public Protection, Health and Well being Department, including Environmental Health, Business Continuity, and Emergency Planning.

Manage communications by responding to public, agency, and internal enquiries, prioritising and allocating animal welfare cases, and issuing correspondence in line with procedures.

Maintain and operate manual and computerised systems for case management, records, and reporting, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data management regulations.

Organise and support meetings, prepare reports, marketing materials, website updates, and assist in producing official documentation for legal and operational purposes.

Handle financial administration including processing payments, managing petty cash, raising invoices, coding purchase orders, and monitoring stock and inventory.

Ensure compliance with Council policies, health and safety requirements, equality and anti-discrimination legislation, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Provide flexible administrative cover across all departmental functions, including reception and registration services, supporting business continuity and departmental priorities.
The Person:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE\’s.
- Experience in a busy office environment.
- Knowledge of Animal Welfare Rights (Desireable).
