MCS Group is looking for a Manual QA Engineer for a 6 month FTC in Belfast. If you are a detail-oriented Manual QA who thrives in environments where you can take ownership and make a real impact, then this one is for you. As Manual QA you will help build robust, user-centred products for our SME client. You will work closely with your Scrum Team (as their dedicated Manual QA resource) and you\’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality of the platform across both the front and back end.
This is a hands-on role requiring a high degree of autonomy and confidence – you\’ll be the voice of quality on the team, with the ability to push back when needed and drive best practices throughout the development cycle.
The Role
- Work closely with developers and product managers to plan, execute and refine testing efforts.
- Write your own test cases, dive into databases and APIs, you\’ll be central to delivering a seamless user experience.
- Design, execute and maintain manual test cases across web and back-end systems
- Test APIs using Postman and validate data through SQL queries
- Proactively identify risks and suggest improvements
- Become a product expert and champion user experience and functionality
The Person
- At least 2+ years\’ experience in manual QA across both front and back-end
- Strong SQL skills – able to write and run queries for validation and troubleshooting
- Confident with API testing tools such as Postman
- Comfortable writing your own test cases from scratch
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively
- Clear communication skills and a quality-first mindset
- Exposure to tools like Jira or Confluence
Location: Belfast / Hybrid (3 days per week in the office)
Salary: £35k – £40k
Duration: 6 months
