MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a leading third sector organisation to recruit a Housing Officer on a long-term temporary contract (6 months with the view to extension). Excellent hourly rate – £17.34 ph + benefits.
The Role:
- Deliver a comprehensive housing management service, ensuring compliance with tenancy conditions, addressing anti-social behaviour, and promoting tenant engagement through forums and events.
- Allocate properties efficiently in line with procedures, liaising with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and minimising void losses.
- Manage rent arrears, tenant charges, and suspected tenancy fraud, referring complex cases to the Housing Manager and working alongside the Welfare Advice Officer to support financial inclusion.
- Conduct property inspections, manage maintenance requests, monitor health and safety standards, and collaborate with development teams on new housing schemes.
- Respond to telephone and face-to-face enquiries, ensure data protection compliance, conduct accompanied viewings, sign up new tenants, and provide guidance on housing and benefit legislation.
- Supervise Community Assistants, assist with staff training and induction, review policies and procedures, and support continuous improvement of tenant services.
- Represent the organisation internally and externally, participate in reviews and training, and maintain flexibility to undertake other duties as required, including occasional evening and weekend work.
The Person:
- Relevant experience working within a housing environment.
- Experience working in voids, allocations, debt recovery, and dealing with anti-social behaviour.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using a Housing Management computerised management information system.
- Hold a valid UK driver\’s license.
