Overview

We are pleased to be working with this public-sector organisation in their search for a Medical Lab Assistant.

Role

The role:

  • Support the daily operations of the cytology laboratory by assisting with the preparation and processing of clinical samples.
  • Receive and handle patient specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols, ensuring accuracy and timely data entry.
  • Operate and assist in the maintenance of automated laboratory equipment used in sample processing.
  • Use laboratory IT systems to manage sample workflows and support result reporting.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively within the laboratory team to maintain high standards of service, quality, and patient care.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with specimen reception procedures and safe handling of clinical samples
  • Experience using laboratory IT systems for sample tracking and data entry
  • Good communication and teamworking skills
  • This position is subject to a successful Enhanced Access NI
