MCS Group is partnering with a UK leader in the Food industry to recruit an Engineering Team Lead to join their state-of-the-art site in Co. Down. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior role with leadership responsibility and influence in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Overview
As Engineering Team Lead, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager to lead a team of multi-skilled engineers across continental shifts. You will be responsible for prioritising maintenance support, ensuring maximum equipment uptime, and driving a proactive approach to both preventative maintenance and fault resolution.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage the shift engineering team (including apprentices)
- Prioritise and coordinate response to equipment breakdowns across production lines
- Oversee preventative maintenance schedules using CMMS systems
- Ensure all documentation and compliance logs are completed to high standards
- Collaborate with production and process improvement teams to optimise site performance
- Apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools such as 5 Whys and 5S
Qualifications / Criteria for Success
- Time-served engineering apprenticeship with HNC/HND or equivalent qualification
- Recent experience in a similar role within manufacturing
- Strong electro-mechanical and PLC troubleshooting experience
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills
- Flexible, proactive, and committed to high performance standards
Experience within the food processing sector and familiarity with FMCG environments would be highly advantageous.
