Broadcast & AV Systems Engineer - Belfast - Northern Ireland

MCS Group is working with a new business establishing a specialist technical team in Belfast to support an exciting, long-term project. We're looking for an experienced Broadcast & AV Systems Engineer who enjoys working with complex audio-visual technology, solving technical challenges and keeping high-performance systems running smoothly.

This is a hands-on position within a small team, offering the opportunity to take real ownership of specialist AV infrastructure and work with technology typically found in live production, broadcast and large-scale event environments.

Location: Belfast - Fully on-site

Contract: Fixed-term until March 2028 (with possibility of going permanent)

The Role

The Broadcast Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a sophisticated AV environment, ensuring equipment, video distribution systems and supporting infrastructure operate reliably.

Working alongside other technical specialists, you'll troubleshoot issues, manage system configurations and help ensure the technology performs consistently in a demanding production environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support, maintain and troubleshoot professional LED display systems, including associated processors, controllers and hardware.

  • Manage video distribution and signal routing across a range of AV and broadcast technologies.

  • Maintain synchronisation and timing across interconnected systems, ensuring reliable performance.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving video signals, conversion equipment, routing infrastructure and display technology.

  • Support the integration of traditional broadcast equipment with modern network-based AV solutions.

  • Work closely with IT and technical colleagues to resolve more complex infrastructure issues.

  • Maintain technical documentation, manage equipment changes and coordinate repairs or replacements when required.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with engineers who have a strong technical background in professional AV, broadcast engineering or live production environments.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Experience supporting complex AV or broadcast systems, ideally in a live production, studio or large-scale events environment.

  • Strong knowledge of professional LED display technology, video processing and control systems.

  • Experience with video signal distribution, routing and conversion across SDI, HDMI, DisplayPort and IP-based technologies.

  • An understanding of video synchronisation, timing and broadcast standards, including genlock.

  • Exposure to AV over IP (AVoIP) systems and networked video infrastructure.

  • The ability to investigate technical problems independently and work effectively alongside other engineering disciplines.

  • A practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to work in environments where system reliability is essential.

Experience with virtual production technology, specialist LED processing platforms or advanced broadcast networking would be particularly useful, although we're equally interested in engineers from other technically demanding AV environments.

What's On Offer?

This is an opportunity to join a newly established team, work with specialist technology and play an important role in supporting a significant technical project in Belfast.

The position will particularly appeal to someone who enjoys being close to the technology, working in a small team and taking ownership of complex systems rather than operating in a purely desk-based support role.

Up to Β£90,000 plus benefits

All conversations will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
