MCS Group is working exclusively with a new entrant to Northern Ireland in their search for a Principal Software Engineer with experience of utilising AI tools in their day-to-day. This will be a fully-remote, senior Individual Contributor role within a high-growth MedTech organisation.

This role is perfect for a Principal, Staff or Lead software engineer who enjoys building, improving, and making things work in the real world. If you like the idea of doing more with less, being the first hire of a team in a brand new region, and shipping meaningful work quickly - let's chat.
What you'll do:
- Take ideas and turn them into working, production-ready systems
- Improve and evolve existing platforms without unnecessary rewrites
- Build APIs, services, and (where needed) clean, usable frontends
- Move systems toward modern, cloud-native ways of working
- Use AI tools to speed up delivery and focus on what really matters
- Test ideas quickly through prototypes, then scale what works
What we're looking for:
- Strong experience building and owning software in production
- Comfortable across backend, systems, and some frontend when needed
- Solid understanding of modern cloud and delivery practices
- Able to make sensible trade-offs and keep things pragmatic
- You'll be already using AI tools to enhance how you build software (you'll be tinkering and utilising the likes of Cursor, Claude or Co-Pilot to go-faster and work more efficiently in your role already)
