Mid-level Software Engineer – SportsTech

Location: Hybrid (Belfast)

Salary: £35,000‑£45,000 + Equity

My client is a rapidly scaling sports‑technology company building a platform used by athletes, coaches, scouts and performance staff across the UK, US and beyond. As a Mid‑Level Software Engineer you will own features end‑to‑end, contribute to technical direction, and grow within a modern engineering culture.

What you’ll be doing

• Design and build new features across web, mobile, and backend services.
• Develop clean, scalable APIs and application logic.
• Work with cloud‑native systems, data sources, and modern development workflows.
• Drive improvements in performance, reliability and code quality.
• Support junior engineers and contribute to best practices.
• Participate in technical discussions, planning, and architecture decisions.

What my client is looking for

To be considered, candidates will need one of the following:

• Active involvement in sport (e.g. playing, coaching, competing, or ongoing participation in team‑based sports).
• Excellent academic performance in STEM (high‑achieving university or school results).

And you should have:

• 2‑4+ years of experience delivering production features.
• Strong experience with a modern JavaScript framework (React / Next.js ideal).
• Exposure to backend development (Node.js, Python, or similar).
• Comfortable working across the full stack.
• Enjoy solving problems, shaping systems, and working in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and collaboration experience with engineering, product, and design teams.
