MCS Group is exclusively supporting an innovative Belfast technology company as they look to appoint a Lead Design Systems Engineer to their growing engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Frontend Engineer who enjoys creating high-quality user experiences and building the foundations that product teams rely on every day. You'll take ownership of a shared design system and component library used across multiple products, working closely with designers and engineers to ensure consistency, accessibility and exceptional implementation quality.

What you'll be doing:

  • Building and maintaining reusable React and TypeScript components
  • Owning and evolving a company-wide design system
  • Translating Storybook and Figma specifications into production-ready code
  • Driving consistency across multiple products and engineering teams
  • Implementing accessibility best practices and visual regression testing
  • Managing component versioning and release processes
  • Mentoring engineers and promoting frontend best practices

What we're looking for:

  • Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
  • Experience building or maintaining design systems and component libraries
  • Strong understanding of Storybook and modern frontend development practices
  • Experience working closely with designers and interpreting Figma designs
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
