The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 1‑3 years of commercial experience who wants to accelerate their career in AI and cloud technologies. You'll work alongside experienced software engineers, contributing to the design and development of the APIs, services and backend systems that power AI‑driven products. From day one you will be given real responsibility, plenty of support, and the chance to learn from a highly collaborative engineering team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Backend Development
    • Build and maintain backend services using Node.js or Python
    • Develop and support REST APIs and microservices
    • Write clean, well‑tested and maintainable code
    • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of engineering standards and best practices
  • Cloud & Infrastructure
    • Deploy and maintain applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Work with Docker and Kubernetes in a cloud‑native environment
    • Use monitoring and logging tools to troubleshoot and improve application performance
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with engineers, designers and product teams
    • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning and technical discussions
    • Learn from senior engineers while contributing to real customer‑facing products

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with 1‑3 years of experience in software engineering who is passionate about backend development and eager to continue learning.

Essential Skills

  • Commercial experience with Node.js and/or Python
  • Understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous programming and backend development principles
  • Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Redis
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP is a bonus)
  • Experience using Docker and an understanding of Kubernetes

Nice to Have

  • Python scripting experience
  • Familiarity with React
  • Knowledge of Graph Databases
  • Experience working with or running local LLMs
  • An interest in AI, machine learning or modern cloud technologies
