MCS is a fast-growing commercial cleaning company based in Coalville. We've grown from £1 million to £8 million turnover in five years, we now employ around 700 people, and we're on track for £10 million by 2030. We're looking for an Operations Manager to lead our cleaning operations and help shape the next stage of our growth.
Why this role is different:
- Your voice counts. You'll work directly with the Directors, and good ideas are acted on in days, not quarters.
- Freedom to innovate. We want blue-sky thinking on how we clean, manage, train and use technology, including AI.
- Make a visible difference. You'll see the impact of your decisions on our clients, our teams and our growth.
- People, not numbers. We know our staff by name, and we'll know you too.
We'd love to hear from you if you are:
- An Area Manager ready for the next step. You've proven yourself running sites and teams, and you're ready to lead a whole operation.
- An Operations Manager in a large national provider who feels buried in process and unable to make a real difference.
How the role fits:
Our Projects Manager links Sales and Operations and starts up every new contract. Once a contract is up and running, it is handed over to you and your team to deliver, develop and grow. That leaves you free to focus on running a great operation across all our established sites.
Where you'll work:
Most of your time will be spent across the Midlands. You'll make regular visits to our Wokingham office, where our branch manager looks after around 10 contracts, and occasional trips to support our Trust contracts manager, whose contracts stretch from Wolverhampton to Bury.
What you'll do:
- Lead, support and develop our team of Area Managers.
- Make sure every site is cleaned to specification, on time, every day.
- Take on new contracts from the Projects Manager once they are up and running, and drive standards from there.
- Be the senior operational contact for key clients, including academy trusts and multi-site accounts.
- Keep contracts profitable by managing labour hours and site budgets.
- Bring fresh ideas, trial new technology and roll out what works.
- Maintain our ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards with our Compliance lead.
What you'll bring:
- Operational management experience in commercial cleaning or facilities management.
- Strong problem-solving and excellent time management.
- A supportive leadership style and a good sense of humour.
- Confidence with technology and an appetite for new ways of working.
- A full, clean UK driving licence and the ability to pass an enhanced DBS check.
- Ideally within 30–45 minutes of the East Midlands, or willing to relocate.
- The ambition to build a long-term career with us.
What we offer:
- Salary of £40,000–£50,000, depending on experience.
- Company car, laptop and mobile phone.
- Private health cover with AXA PPP.
- Direct access to the Directors and the freedom to try new ideas.
- A senior role in a business small enough to know your name, and big enough to grow your career.
Our values are Pride & Passion, Accountability, Reliability, and Teamwork & Trust.
