General Maintenance Operative in Manchester

Responsibilities:

• Carrying out routine maintenance works and reactive repairs across a range of residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
• Undertaking tapering and jointing and wider carpentry, minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.
• Inspecting and maintaining building systems and equipment to ensure they remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.
• Responding to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
• Installing, repairing, and replacing fixtures and appliances where required.
• Ensuring that all working areas are kept clean, safe, and well organised.
• Clear communication with property managers, colleagues, and tenants as necessary.
• Effective coordination with other team members to ensure work is completed smoothly and efficiently.
• Accurate record keeping and maintaining clear logs of maintenance and repair activities undertaken.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a maintenance, handyman, or similar role.
• Strong working knowledge of general repair and maintenance tasks.
• A basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and good attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

• A full driving licence and reliable transport.
• Willingness to travel to sites across Manchester and the surrounding area.
• Flexibility to undertake occasional evening or weekend work may be required depending on operational needs.
• Cladding experience is desirable, and candidates must have their own tools.
