MCR Property Group is a dynamic and fast-growing property investment and development company with offices in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, and London. The business continues to expand rapidly across the UK and is seeking high-calibre, hands-on professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to grow with the organisation. MCR offers a strong remuneration package and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping a large and evolving property platform.
MCR is now seeking an Assistant Finance Director to play a key role in ensuring the ongoing financial stability, control, and operational excellence of the Group. This is a senior leadership position within the finance function, responsible for maintaining robust financial controls, ensuring full compliance with relevant regulation and reporting standards, and overseeing the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations.
The role will also involve leading, developing, and motivating a diverse team of finance professionals and acting as a visible figurehead for financial excellence across the organisation. The successful candidate will lead an efficient, high-quality, and service-driven transaction function covering the Group’s financial operations, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control, and banking activity.
You will be responsible for ensuring strong technical capability and rigour across the team and will take ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, including rents and service charges, fixed assets, work in progress, and wider general accounting activities.
A core element of the role will be the design, documentation, and continuous development of robust financial controls and governance frameworks that are operationally suitable for a complex, multi-entity property group. You will embed a strong culture of compliance and control across both the finance team and the wider business, maintaining and developing financial regulations that reflect the structure and scale of the organisation.
You will lead the planning, preparation, and delivery of the Group’s annual statutory accounts and those of its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness throughout the process. You will also manage relationships with external auditors and internal systems providers, and where applicable internal audit partners, ensuring a high standard of assurance, quality, and professional collaboration.
Beyond technical delivery, you will play a central role in building a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function, measuring performance, monitoring standards, and taking responsibility for the overall quality and reliability of the team’s output. You will contribute to leadership activity across the wider MCR Group, championing best practice within finance and supporting senior stakeholders with high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and insight.
You will also be expected to identify and improve manual processes where appropriate and to help maintain efficient, scalable financial systems as the business continues to grow.
Applicants must be fully qualified accountants, holding ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualifications. Previous experience within real estate or construction would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other sectors with the ability to adapt quickly to a complex and regulated environment will also be considered.
You will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Outstanding time management and organisational skills are essential, along with the confidence to operate effectively in a senior leadership capacity.
Please note that this role is office-based or site-based depending on operational requirements, and MCR does not offer hybrid or remote working for this position.
