We are now entering an exciting phase of continued growth and are seeking a professional and experienced Facilities Manager to join our team, overseeing one of our student accommodation assets. Responsibilities
- Manage the smooth and efficient operation of all building systems and services within the student accommodation.
- Own and manage the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) programme, ensuring all facilities are safe, fully functional, and compliant with relevant legislation at all times.
- Plan, oversee, and ensure completion of all PPM inspections for critical systems including fire safety, HVAC, lifts, electrical systems, and water hygiene, in line with statutory and internal requirements.
- Maintain and regularly update the PPM schedule, ensuring tasks are completed on time and accurately recorded.
- Ensure all statutory compliance checks and certifications are kept up to date (fire risk assessments, gas safety certification, PAT testing, Legionella monitoring).
- Supervise and coordinate external contractors and service providers, monitoring performance and securing value for money.
- Conduct regular building and room inspections to proactively identify and address maintenance issues.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and emergency situations, minimising disruption to residents.
- Manage the site to remain clean, secure, and welcoming; oversee maintenance budgets, procurement of supplies, and contractor invoices in line with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and compliance documentation, supported by CAFM or similar systems.
- Collaborate with the wider accommodation team to contribute to a positive student experience, including during move-ins and move-outs, and uphold health, safety, and environmental standards site-wide.
- Participate in an on-call rota and respond to out-of-hours issues when required.
About You
- Proven experience in facilities management, ideally within student accommodation, residential, or hospitality environments.
- Strong understanding of Planned Preventive Maintenance and statutory compliance; working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fire safety systems.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills; experience managing contractors and service providers.
- Customer-focused approach with professional interaction with students and internal colleagues.
- Health and safety qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH are desirable.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
