Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled and versatile Electrician / Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic Maintenance team in Manchester. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the safety, functionality, and overall upkeep of our residential, commercial, and industrial properties. While electrical duties will form a key part of the role, you will also be responsible for a wide range of general maintenance tasks as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- • Perform electrical installations, repairs, testing, and maintenance on various systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- • Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to ensure accurate installations.
- • Install electrical wiring, conduit, lighting systems, and electrical panels.
- • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults efficiently and safely.
- • Install, run, and repair CAT6 cables for data and networking requirements.
- • Maintain and repair access control systems (beneficial but not essential).
- • Undertake a variety of general maintenance duties including plumbing, basic carpentry, painting, and routine facility checks.
- • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency callouts.
- • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and internal procedures.
- • Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- • Communicate effectively with colleagues, tenants, and management regarding job progress and issues.
Requirements:
- • Proven experience working as a qualified Electrician.
- • Strong practical knowledge of electrical systems, components, and safety procedures.
- • Capable of reading and interpreting technical diagrams and blueprints.
- • Ability to carry out a range of general maintenance tasks across multiple trades.
- • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
- • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- • Experience with running/fixing CAT6 cabling and access control systems is highly desirable.
- • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- • Flexibility to work outside of normal hours when required (including weekends/evenings).
- • Full UK Driving Licence.
- • Must have own tools and transport.
Education and Certifications:
- • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation.
- • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Certification.
- • Valid ECS card.
Desirable (but not essential):
- • Experience working in facilities or property maintenance.
- • Additional trade qualifications (e.g., plumbing, carpentry) are a bonus.
