Location: Hybrid including two days in our Stevenage Office and some travel across the South East of England
Travel: Occasional travel across South East England. A driving license and car are essential for the role and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
We are looking for a Mentor Services Coordinator to support our volunteer mentors in the South East of England consisting of Hertfordshire, Surrey, North London and West London.
About the role
Our Mentor Services Coordinators are the main point of contact for volunteer mentors throughout their journey with MCR – from their initial enquiry and onboarding, to ongoing support once they are matched with a young person. They carry out in-depth interviews with prospective mentors, arrange training, and coordinate DBS and reference checks, ensuring the entire process is as smooth and well-supported as possible.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing excellent customer service to prospective and existing mentors using strong communication skills on the telephone, in virtual meetings, by email and sometimes in person
- Ensure all of our volunteer mentors are individually supported and fully engaged at every stage of their mentor journey
- Manage DBS checks and support the ID verification process
- Conduct mentor one-to-one conversations and facilitate mentor training sessions and other mentor engagement activities.
About you
- Based in the South East of England and able to travel to the Stevenage office 2 days a week
- Experience of or strong interest in working or volunteering in the charity or third sectors
- An understanding of young people and educational settings
- People person with excellent communication and listening skills and empathy
- Well organised with great administrative skills and attention to detail
- Excellent desktop and database skills
