Job description: Position: Quarry Operative Location: McQuillan Quarries, Dundrod Responsible to: Quarry Manager Contract type: Full-time, permanent Salary: Competitive Working hours: 39 hours per week as well as overtime during mornings, evenings and weekends (weekends on a rota basis), which is a requirement for the role. The successful candidate will report to Quarry Manager and must be hardworking, reliable, and possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills. Key responsibilities: Carry out plant clean ups and assist asphalt plant operator with routine maintenance; Assisting on-site fitter with repairs when required; Mechanical bagging of bitumen and stone products as and when required; Ensuring the standard of the site is maintained and kept clean and tidy; Adhering to all Health & Safety policies and procedures as set out by the Quarry; Carrying out additional duties withing the Quarry as detailed by the Quarry Foreman/Manager. Essential Criteria: Previous experience in similar role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment; A genuine interest in the construction materials industry; Good level of understanding and spoken English; Ability to take direction and following instruction; Flexibility with working hours. Desirable criteria: Previous experience in operating heavy equipment such as front-Loading shovels, excavators and telehandlers etc. Additional training to be provided as necessary if required. Due to the location of the Quarry a full driving licence and own transport is essential. Closing date for applications is:Wednesday 7th October 2026.
