Position: Logistics Supervisor
Location: McQuillan Environmental, Dundrod
Responsible to: Dry Waste Operations Manager
Contract type: Permanent (full-time)
Working hours: Mon - Thu 08:00 to 17:00 (45min break) and Fri 08:00 to 16:00 (30min break)
Overall objectives:
We seek to appoint a Logistics Supervisor to join our busy and expanding team within McQuillan Environmental. This role will require someone with a 'can do' attitude, a commercial approach and demonstrable attention to detail. The successful candidate will report to the Dry Waste Operations Manager and must be hardworking, reliable, and possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Management of Skip drivers including administration support including Company Tool Box Talk schedules
- Assisting Plant Department in Skip and Vehicle maintenance control and implementation of plant schedules and defect reporting
- Control of hired vehicles as required
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s waste collections including deployment, supervision and ensuring the delivery of a quality service by Skip Hire Personnel at all times
- Ensure staff are provided with the necessary equipment / paperwork / information required to carry out their work effectively and efficiently
- Management of the bespoke Waste Software Systems including updated and Improvement Actions
- Assist the Dry Waste Operations Manager in the day-to-day management of the company’s fleet ensuring all vehicles are operated in a safe and efficient manner
- Liaison with 3rd party disposal sites ensuring the correct site is utilized for the correct waste streams including non-conforming wastes
- Provide a high level of internal and external customer service including taking ownership of customer queries and complaints and following issues through to completion
- Participation in customer and regulatory audits to ensure all operations meet the required standards to retain ISO accreditations
- Control and management of TFS and Annex VII applications and notifications including support of Hazardous Operations as required
- Adherence to all internal Operational and Financial Reporting deadlines including good cost awareness practices
- Ensuring compliance with all quality systems & legislative requirements
- Participation in all operational meetings in the agreed cycle
- HR and staff performance monitoring within logistics department
- As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post holder
- The post holder will carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by Senior Management
- The post holder will actively follow all McQuillan Companies procedures including H&S, Environmental & Quality policies
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience in fleet logistics ideally within the waste industry minimum 2 years direct experience or relevant logistics qualification
- Level 4 WAMITAB OCC qualification desirable
- Working knowledge of Waste Software package desirable
- Working knowledge of waste management legislation and current developments in industry
- Experience in Logistic Reporting including analysis and KPI reviews
- Working knowledge of ISO and 45001 quality system desirable
- Working knowledge of waste transportation legislation and logistics
- Good Management experience and skills including time management, delegation, supervision, chairing of meeting and motivation
- Excellent communication skills: clear, effective and authoritative in spoken communication, high standard of written English, able to state a case clearly, logically and concisely
- A strong awareness of the needs of customers, with the ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships
- Computer literate
- A full clean driving license
