Job Description
Position:Hazardous Waste Technician
Location: McQuillan Environmental, Antrim
Responsible to: Waste Technical Supervisor
Contract type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive/Negotiable DOE
Working hours: Monday Thursday from 08:00 to 17:00 (45 min break) and Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 (30 min break)

Overall Objectives
Weseekto appointa Hazardous Waste Technician to join our busy and expanding team within McQuillan Environmental.If you are looking for a career opportunity within a growing business that includes a range of benefits, in a dynamic and engaging working environment then McQuillan Companies is the place for you.
Our Hazardous Waste Management facilities in Antrim include an on-site chemist managed hazardous waste transfer station, a bespoke chemical treatment facility and a soil treatment plant with collection vehicles and tanker services ensuring full service is delivered for all waste streams.
This is rolewillrequiresomeone with a can do attitude, a commercial approach and demonstratable attention to detail. The successful candidatewill report to the Waste Technical Supervisor and must be hardworking, reliable, and possess excellent communication & inter personal skills. Key Responsibilities
- Follow guidance from Hazardous Waste Chemists on labelling and sampling of waste
- Follow the correct procedure for loading / unloading of waste from vehicles as they arrive on site. (Full training on forklift truck operations will be provided)
- Ensure that all activities within the Hazardous Waste Facility and on customer sites are performed in a safe manner in keeping with the Companys written procedures.
- Carry out general housekeeping of Hazardous Waste Facility
- Ensure that equipmentremainsin good workable condition, complete daily checks and report any defects
- Set-up and prepare equipment andcontainsfor various upcoming jobs.
- Support ADR Drivers at off-site operations in terms of loading,labellingand securing pallets to vehicles.
- Driving our fleet of vans to deliver service across our wide customer base
Essential Criteria
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics and inSciencerelated subject (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Engineering,)
- Competent in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills: clear,effectiveand authoritative in spoken communication, high standard of written English, able tostatea case clearly,logicallyand concisely
- Full, clean driving license
- Ability to work effectively on own initiative and the ability to work within a team environment
Desirable Criteria
- Forklift track or telehandler licence
- Previousexperience in a waste treatment environment.
- Previousexperience of working with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)
