Overall objectives

We seek to appoint a Gully Tanker Operator to join our busy and expanding team within McQuillan Outdoor. This role will require someone with a 'can do' attitude, a commercial approach and demonstrable attention to detail. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and must be hardworking, reliable, and possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out drain cleaning of sewers and storm drain operations.
  • Operate a vacuum hose and jetting equipment to clear roadside drains, ensuring they remain unblocked.
  • Work closely with the Gully Driver.
  • Physically demanding job due to frequent lifting of drain covers.
  • Work in all weather conditions (suitable PPE to be provided by the employer).

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers, members of the public and other team members.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
  • Conduct daily pre-start inspections of the vehicle to ensure its safety and report any maintenance issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of work carried out.
  • Adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures regarding transportation, safety, and delivery protocols.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience in operating a commercial vehicle such as Jetvac or tanker.
  • CSR card in date.
  • Experience in traffic management procedures.
  • Experience in high pressure water jetting, manual handling, first aid and reversing assistant/banksman duties.
