Contract type: Full-time, permanent
Working hours: Monday to Thursday (08:00 to 17:00) and Friday (08:00 to 16:00). Rotational on-call work during winter season.

Overall Objectives:
Due to an increase in workload, we are seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our busy and expanding team within McQuillan Outdoor, our dynamic outdoor facilities management business specialising in Drainage, Winter Services, Road Sweeping, Pressure Washing, Industrial Cleaning and landscaping. We deliver these services to a range of clients across Northern Ireland including local councils, commercial businesses and management agents.
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily programming of works across operations, preparation and management of the winter gritting operations, pricing incoming sales inquiries, sales administration, business development and customer engagement. This will involve close direct engagement with clients, senior management and supply chain.
The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:
- Act as one of the first points of contact for our customers
- Carry out daily job allocation
- Ability to react quickly to changing situations and multi-task with various jobs and clients
- Help manage and maintain our customer databases
- Management of Vehicle Fleet and liaising with Maintenance Department
- Show meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate work
- Creation of orders to suppliers
- Requirement for you to work weekends and on call during the Winter Gritting season (October to April)
- Use of digital work management software
- Use of digital Health and Safety software
- Pricing on inbound sales enquiries
- Preparing month end sales invoices
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience at Supervisor level within operations or similar
- Experience with managing direct/in-direct labour and sub-contractors
- Competent in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills: clear, effective and authoritative in spoken communication, high standard of written English, able to state a case clearly, logically and concisely
- Full, clean driving license
- Ability to work in a team situation
- Experience in drainage or similar preferable but not essential
Basic Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- GCSE Maths & English, grade C or above (or qualification equivalent)
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
- willingness to train and learn new skills
- Experience in coaching and mentoring others to succeed
