Overall objectives
We seek to appoint a Gully Tanker Operator to join our busy and expanding team within McQuillan Outdoor. This role will require someone with a 'can do' attitude, a commercial approach and demonstrable attention to detail. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and must be hardworking, reliable, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out drain cleaning of sewers and storm drain operations.
- Operate a vacuum hose and jetting equipment to clear roadside drains, ensuring they remain unblocked.
- Work closely with the Gully Driver.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including frequent lifting of drain covers.
- Work in all weather conditions (suitable PPE to be provided by the employer).
Essential Criteria:
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers, members of the public and other team members.
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections of the vehicle to ensure its safety and report any maintenance issues.
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out.
- Adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures regarding transportation, safety, and delivery protocols.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience in operating a commercial vehicle such as Jetvac or tanker.
- CSR card in date.
- Experience in traffic management procedures.
- Experience in high pressure water jetting, manual handling, first aid and reversing assistant/banksman duties.
