Position: Chemical Process Technician
Location: McQuillan Environmental, Antrim
Responsible to: Senior Process Chemist
Contract type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive/Negotiable DOE
Working hours: Shift Working Pattern - (12am 8am, 8am 4pm, 4pm 12am)
Overall objectives:
We seek to appoint a Chemical Process Technician to join our busy and expanding team within McQuillan Environmental. This role will require someone with a 'can do' attitude, a commercial approach and demonstrable attention to detail. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Process Chemist and must be hardworking, reliable, and possess excellent communication & inter personal skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Follow the correct procedure for the labelling and sampling of waste.
- Follow the correct procedure for unloading of waste into the Chemical Treatment Facility.
- Carry out general housekeeping of Chemical Treatment Facility and laboratory.
- Ensure that equipment remains in calibration and functions as required.
- Ensure that waste samples are analysed in accordance with agreed methods.
- Set-up and prepare processing equipment as per relevant procedures.
- Follow Waste Processing Directions as generated by the Process Chemists for the treatment of all wastes within the Chemical Treatment Facility.
- Complete all associated processing documentation as per relevant procedures and policies and ensure that they are signed off as appropriate.
- Be responsible for ensuring that all analysis and processing is performed in accordance with McQuillan Envirocare quality policies and procedures and are in accordance with the appropriate regulatory guidelines.
Essential Criteria:
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics and in Science related subject (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Engineering).
- Ability to work effectively on own initiative and the ability to work within a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Basic level ability in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Desirable Criteria:
- Educated to A-level (or equivalent) standard OR 2 years appropriate experience in a Laboratory Environment.
- Previous experience in a waste treatment environment.
- Previous experience of working with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS).
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
