Due to continued business growth and the development of our team, we are seeking to strengthen our Health & Safety expertise to ensure full compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the risk assessment process and consider how risks could be reduced
  • Carry out FRA for all Depots
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards
  • Review the depot inspections/audits in MYC to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Review the actions produced from MYC to ensure completion
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements
  • Review incidents and accidents in MYC and produce statistics for managers
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, and occupational diseases
  • Produce schedules for the facilities team
  • Review the schedule for legal and statutory compliance

Desirable Qualifications

  • Tech IOSH as a minimum

  • General H&S knowledge and skills to help promote a positive health and safety culture in our workplace
  • Experience in the Food and Drink Sector
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills to explain health and safety processes to a range of people and give presentations to groups
  • Negotiating skills to convince managers of the need to implement and maintain safety standards that may compromise speed or efficiency in the organisation
  • Patience and diplomacy demonstrating a collaborative approach
  • The ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately
  • Attention to detail
  • A flexible approach to work
  • An interest in the law and the ability to understand regulations
  • A full driving licence – essential for jobs involving travel between sites
