You will be responsible for supporting the technical operation of a fleet of small, working vessels, ensuring they remain compliant, well-maintained, and operating efficiently. This role combines both technical oversight and day-to-day involvement, working closely with vessel crews and shoreside support to resolve issues, maintain standards, and drive performance across the fleet.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing vessel maintenance programmes and monitoring ongoing condition
- Providing technical support to crews, including fault finding and problem resolution
- Ensuring all vessels meet Class, Flag State, and relevant regulatory requirements
- Planning and supporting shipyard periods, including preparation, execution, and follow-up
- Managing maintenance systems, defects, and worklists across the fleet
- Reviewing performance data and identifying areas requiring attention
- Supporting purchasing decisions for parts, equipment, and repairs
- Carrying out vessel visits, inspections, and technical reviews
- Working alongside senior crew to maintain operational standards and reliability
- Supporting and coordinating with shoreside technical personnel and contractors
Requirements:
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency or relevant engineering qualification
- Background within small vessel / workboat / coastal operations
- Practical, hands-on approach with strong technical understanding
- Ability to balance operational demands with compliance and reporting requirements
