Role Purpose
The responsibility of a Claims Handler at Arch Insurance Company (Europe) Limited relates to all Professional Indemnity and Cyber claims generated by Arch managed syndicates and company platforms in the U.K, with additional exposure in the U.S and EMEA regions.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Handle claims associated with Arch Insurance (Europe) Ltd policies.
- Provide technical leadership to the rest of the London market on lead files.
- Responsible for the delivery of a high level claims service, involving regular communication with claims manager and underwriters.
- Assist underwriters in the implementation of their overall underwriting strategy.
- Represent Professional Lines/Cyber claims at events, client meetings, broker meetings and Arch internal meetings (when required).
- Manage service providers involved in the claims function on a day to day basis.
- Assist in the managing of TPA’s including annual audits.
- Assist in aspects of coverage and potential recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise- Adhere to the Arch Insurance (Europe) Ltd reserving philosophy and ensure claims are reserved in a consistent and accurate manner.
- Responsibility for handling losses within handler’s authority levels.
- Deliver concise, clear and accurate reports, such as Large Loss and Risk Alert Reports.
- Deliver concise, clear and accurate Audit reports for compliance purposes.
- Manage relationships with brokers, Insureds, Coverholders and third party providers.
- Provide feedback on the performance of technical experts i.e., lawyers and loss adjusters and ensure adherence to SLA’s.
- Provide feedback on the performance of TPA’s.
- Conduct audits of TPA’s.
- Involved in the delivery of the department's business goals and objectives.
- Represent Arch Insurance (Europe) Ltd in the London market, for both Lloyd’s and company platforms.
- Where Arch is an agreement party, act as a market lead including strategy planning, managing market calls/meetings and the demands/expectations of market followers.
- Delivery of claims tasks and projects outside day-to-day workflow.
- Contribute to improving claims processes and procedures as necessary.
Role Requirements
Skills / Competencies- Good technical knowledge of Professional Lines business.
- Knowledge of Cyber would be advantageous.
- Fair understanding of UK law.
- Experience of US law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions would be advantageous.
- Broad understanding of coverage issues/policy interpretation.
- Good report writing skills.
- Ability to communicate confidently at the highest levels across all areas of an organisation.
- Strategically minded.

- Strong influencing and decision-making skills.

- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role and the Insurance Market, which can be either company or Lloyd’s platforms.
