Role Summary & Purpose
The Finance Optimisation Analyst is responsible for helping Finance work smarter, faster and more effectively.
Combining analytical thinking, technology expertise and a passion for continuous improvement.
The role focuses on delivering high-quality reporting, automation and process optimisation solutions across Workday, Alteryx, DUCO, Sigma and Anaplan.
It also involves working closely with various stakeholders to seek out opportunities to simplify processes, improve data visibility, strengthen controls and maximise the value of Arch’s Finance systems.
This is not a traditional finance reporting role.
A suitable candidate is someone who is naturally curious, enjoys challenging inefficient processes, takes pride in finding better ways of doing things, and has past experience with the stated systems.
- Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Finance reporting solutions across Workday, Sigma, Alteryx, DUCO and Anaplan, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and controls.
- Design, develop and maintain Workday composite reports and discovery boards to deliver accurate and insightful information.
- Build and maintain Alteryx workflows to automate Finance processes, transform data and reduce manual effort.
- Support the development, enhancement and expansion of Anaplan models for planning, forecasting and performance management.
- Develop and enhance DUCO reconciliation rules and matching logic to strengthen financial controls and improve reconciliation efficiency.
- Identify and implement practical AI solutions to improve financial reporting, automation, analysis and operational effectiveness.
- Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver practical reporting and system solutions.
- Support system testing, upgrades and change initiatives, ensuring Finance solutions remain reliable, accurate and well controlled.
- Promote continuous improvement by simplifying processes, improving data quality and implementing scalable solutions.
- Maintain the Finance Improvement Tracker, capturing business requests, prioritising workloads and coordinating the delivery of optimisation initiatives.
- Role Requirements & Skills
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting (i. e. UK GAAP / US GAAP).
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with financial reporting and optimisation systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable and comfortable with changing business requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree in Accounting / Finance or a related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or working towards) preferred.
- Experience in financial reporting.
- Insurance industry experience is preferred but not essential.
- Experience with one or more of the stated systems is desirable - Workday, Alteryx, Sigma, DUCO and Anaplan.
