The Tech Lead will solve valuable problems for Arch Reinsurance by leading the design and delivery of the next generation of reinsurance systems. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role: you will build software, own technical decisions, guide your team’s execution, while partnering with product and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes – not just features.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of engineers – coach and mentor your team through pairing, feedback, and role modeling strong engineering judgment and accountability; raise team maturity across the full delivery lifecycle.
- Own end-to-end technical design and delivery of valuable reinsurance capabilities, ensuring solutions are feasible, properly sequenced, high quality, and delight your business customers.
- Partner with product and business experts to shape solutions, make trade-offs, and remove blockers – turning business goals into outcomes.
- Continuously improve our SDLC, tools, and CI/CD pipeline via high-leverage experiments and operational improvements (including agentic coding).
- Identify and manage technical risks early (including cross-team/systemic risks), propose mitigation options, and surface uncertainty transparently.
- Support production operations through strong incident management practices, including root cause analysis and preventative improvements.
- Ensure quality and release confidence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar subject or comparable work experience.
- 8 years of application development experience, including demonstrated technical leadership on complex initiatives (e.g., leading design, mentoring engineers, owning delivery outcomes).
- Proficiency in .NET Core/C#, SQL/Cosmos DB, React, TypeScript, and GitHub Copilot. Experience with domain driven design, event sourcing, Service Bus and Snowflake a strong advantage.
- Comfort with asynchronous, event-driven architecture and the engineering tradeoffs they introduce.
- Broad expertise in software engineering best practices, methods, and techniques, with a pragmatic mindset to apply right-sized solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and optimize solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technology and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptability and initiative – able to learn new technologies, drive improvements, and work independently while aligning the team.
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle, including production support and operational readiness.
