We are seeking a confident, customer-focused Trade Counter & Showroom Sales Advisor to join our dedicated team. This is a varied and hands-on role combining trade sales support, customer service, and yard operations. You’ll be equally comfortable advising a builder at the trade counter, helping a homeowner in the showroom, and assisting with stock and dispatch in the yard. If you enjoy working with people, solving practical problems, and being part of a close-knit team, this could be the right role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Trade Sales & Counter Support
- Build strong, lasting relationships with tradespeople, installers, and developers.
- Handle trade enquiries in person, by phone, and via email.
- Provide product advice, pricing, availability, and delivery coordination.
- Identify and develop new trade accounts in the local area.
- Prepare orders for dispatch and coordinate collections.
- Load and unload vehicles safely (forklift operation where certified).
- Carry out weekly stocktakes and maintain accurate stock levels.
- Keep the yard organised, clean, and operating efficiently.
- Retail Showroom Sales
- Greet customers and provide knowledgeable, friendly service.
- Understand project requirements and recommend suitable products.
- Prepare accurate quotations and process sales.
- Calculate quantities and area measurements for customer projects.
- Maintain attractive and well-presented showroom displays.
- Use internal systems for quotes, orders, and stock management.
- Stay up to date with product ranges and technical information.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong communication skills and a genuine focus on customer service.
- Experience in trade counter, retail sales, builders’ merchants, or similar environments.
- Confident dealing with both trade and retail customers.
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
- Good numerical skills — able to calculate measurements and quantities accurately.
- Physically capable of handling heavy materials as part of daily duties.
- Forklift experience (preferred but not essential).
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems.
- Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
