We are seeking an experienced sustainability leader to join our business as Head of Construction Sustainability for project delivery. This is a key role for the delivery of sustainability requirements across our construction projects across the UK.
Responsibilities
The successful Head of Construction Sustainability will report to and work closely with the Design and Build Director on strategy to deliver the operational and client sustainability requirements.
You will work closely with our Pre-Construction teams to communicate our expertise and value/opportunities during bid winning.
The Head of Construction Sustainability will also help expand current and develop new procedures for the successful delivery of project sustainability goals and requirements, identify further recruitment needs to strengthen our team.
Pre-Construction
- Work closely with Bid team to identify and articulate bid winning sustainability strategies
- Act as a technical expert during Design Review Process of tender documents for sustainability certifications; LEED, Passivhaus, WELL etc
- Fully understand client requirements and use extensive knowledge of sustainable construction to provide expert advice at tender and during PCSA/ ECI / PSC phases
- Assist Bid Teams with writing submissions that address client requirements and demonstrate best practise and innovation
Operations
- As an expert in Sustainability, you will keep up to date with changes in regulations and sustainability accreditations, communicating to both Operational and Pre-Construction colleagues
- Educate and support our teams to ensure they understand our contractual and legal requirements
- Work closely with our Design and Technical managers to ensure design meets the sustainability requirements and advise where specification or material selection could lead to improvements
- Support our operational teams with achieving site specific sustainability requirements developing a team as required to aid delivery
- Innovate and champion best practises to both colleagues and supply chain
- Managing a team to delivery sustainability requirements on projects
- Representing the company on external groups
- Educate wider teams within the business on Project sustainability deliverable, certifications and best practises
Qualification
You will ideally hold a related HNC/HND/Degree or similar level of qualification.
Experience
- Be passionate and articulate about the delivery of Sustainability
- Understand and be able to demonstrate previous experience of delivering sustainability accreditations
- Ability to lead and manage the delivery of sustainability goals on multiple projects
- Possess proven experience with whole life carbon reduction and monitoring & reporting
- Experience of PAS2080 carbon management systems
- Prior experience of implementation and management of ISO14001 certified management systems
- Experience in delivery of Circular Economy improvements
- Possess excellent communication skills with clients, professionals and delivery teams.
- Good IT skills and familiar with a range of applications
The Head of Construction Sustainability will report to the Design and Build Director however you will work closely with the Bid, Estimating and Operations Directors. You will also have the opportunity to report to the Board periodically.
