McLaughlin & Harvey are celebrating over 170 years as one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland. We are seeking to recruit an experienced Travel Manager to join our highly motivated and diligent travel team. As Group Travel Manager you will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the Company’s travel policy across the Group.
Through excellent negotiation skills you will secure the best travel and accommodation rates with external suppliers throughout the UK for all McLaughlin and Harvey employees, while providing excellent service and generating added value through your team. The Group Travel Manager will have responsibility for ensuring the McLaughlin & Harvey travel programme is efficient, cost effective and aligned with the overall business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and audit travel policies and procedures
- Implement company procedures and maintain full records of employee travel
- Manage and build relationships with external suppliers and vendors
- Negotiate contracts with airlines, hotels and other travel providers to secure the best rates and services
- Arrange cost effective flights, accommodation, car hire and distribution of all confirmations
- Establish and maintain travel budgets as well as tracking and reporting on expenditure
- Analyse travel data to identify trends, cost saving opportunities and areas for improvement
- Generate reports on travel spending, policy compliance and other key metrics for management
- Resolve travel queries and travel emergencies
- Reconcile and manage invoices and charges
- Manage a team of employees through best practice and role modelling Company values
- Provide assistance to travellers and ensure duty of care
- Collaborate with other departments, such as HR, finance, and procurement, to ensure alignment and coordination of travel-related activities
- Remain updated on new travel trends and regulations
Experience
- Previous Management experience
- Significant knowledge and experience of the travel industry
- Effective and demonstrable task prioritising
- High level of interpersonal and organisational skills
- Strong time management and attention to detail
- Excellent decision-making skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in challenging circumstances
