McLaughlin & Harvey is one of the leading Civil Engineering and Building Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland. We are looking to recruit a Social Value Project Lead to deliver our social value commitments across projects in Northern Ireland, ensuring we meet local planning obligations and leave a meaningful, lasting legacy in the communities where we work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and monitor social value commitments across Northern Ireland projects, ensuring alignment with the Social Value Model 2020, Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, and any local planning obligations.
  • Develop project specific Social Value Plans tailored to client priorities, local authority requirements and local community needs.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, supply chain partners and community stakeholders to maximise social, economic and environmental outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track and report on local procurement activity, SME engagement, Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) involvement and other economic benefits in line with reporting expectations.
  • Support procurement processes that enhance local economic benefit and contribute to wider community wealth building outcomes.
  • Work with schools, colleges, universities and training providers to deliver careers talks, site visits, placements, curriculum support and mentoring initiatives to meet our social value commitments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, community organisations, residents groups, business networks and charities.
  • Facilitate volunteering programmes and encourage participation from project teams and the supply chain.
  • Support delivery of Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) requirements to achieve high scores and drive best practice.
  • Track, measure and report social value outcomes using recognised frameworks such as National TOMs, the Social Value Model, and client specific metrics.
  • Produce regular reports, dashboards and evidence packs for clients, auditors and internal leadership, ensuring clear demonstration of compliance and impact.
  • Capture outcomes and impact for marketing materials, case studies and award submissions.

About You

  • Experience delivering social value or community engagement activities.
  • Desirable to have experience using social value measurement tools, including National TOMs, Social Value Portal or equivalent approaches.
  • Strong communication, coordination and organisational skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement capability, with confidence working alongside community groups, local authorities, education providers, supply chain partners and clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A passion for community development and inclusion.
  • Flexibility to travel between projects within a defined region.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Construction industry experience (desirable but not essential).
