At McLaughlin & Harvey we position our people for success and have built a culture on collaboration. We are seeking an experienced Estimating Director to enhance our team and drive success across our high value projects.

Reporting to our Civil Engineering Commercial and Pre Construction Director, this role is responsible for leading the estimating team, setting the standard for excellence and accuracy in all bids and tenders. You will ensure the delivery of competitive and comprehensive project estimates, underpinning the company’s ability to secure new business and maintain its standing in the industry.

What you will be doing

  • Lead and develop the estimating team to achieve the Civils Business goals
  • Oversee the preparation of bids, ensuring all estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client expectations and company’s objectives
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost plans and cash flows
  • Develop strategies with procurement to ensure we achieve the most competitive quotes by understanding current market trends
  • Manage multidisciplinary infrastructure tenders from conception through to completion, delivering tenders that meet project and business requirements
  • Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
  • Taking responsibility for developing new business opportunities with existing and new McLaughlin & Harvey clients
  • Working with fellow Directors to construct bids for new work

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified to high standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with proven relevant experience
  • Previous experience of working with estimating software packages
  • Desirable membership of RICS / CIOB /A. Cost E
  • Experience of working on Major Programmes and Projects
  • Experience of working in the Civil Engineering field particularly marine, rail, infrastructure and flood defence sectors
  • Experience in leading and managing a team
